Sarah, a talented copywriter, came to me looking to freshen up her existing website. With a wide variety of portfolio pieces we worked together to create a beautiful Content Management System website, giving her the ability to showcase her copywriting skills.
We agreed it was important for her to be able to upload new portfolio pieces to demonstrate her quality of work and therefore we decided to go with Wordpress, a well known CMS platform which would give her the opportunity to easily add new work.
To make it even easier I decided to ensure the build was custom. This had some great advantages for Sarah, on the one hand I was able to create a sleek custom design which matched exactly the style she was looking for.
Many websites are built using pre-made themes, this is perfectly fine as a cheaper option however this means you lose the ability to get the unique style you may be looking for and your website ends up looking a lot like many other sites out there.
The second big advantage to building the site custom was I could create a simple platform which was easily editable in the back-end.
When purchasing themes you end up with a bundle of options which can be overwhelming for someone without much technical experience.
By liaising with Sarah I was able to get a clear vision of what she needed and this meant I could create a backend which was easy to navigate.
One key point Sarah highlighted was that a lot of her work was in PDF format and therefore it would be nice if she was able to upload her work via a file.
I was able to easily create an option for Sarah to upload her work via multiple file formats which allowed her clients to simply download her work.
Other key aspects of the site were adding social media icons to allow Sarah to connect with her audience and ensuring the site was highly optimised across all browsers and devices.
It was a pleasure working with Sarah and it was a smooth process from start to completion.
